An uncut press (primary) sheet of 12 (4x3) minisheets was made available at £43.45. This was the second time an uncut press sheet has been sold (the previous was for the Victoria Cross minisheet). An associated presentation pack (pack no 398) also accompanied this minisheet.

3, A Generic Smilers sheet containing 20 x 1st NVI special 'Arnold Machin Image' stamps priced at £7.35. This sheet also contained facsimiles of the original £.S.D series of Machin stamps. The sheet was printed in Litho.

5, The £1 was reissued in a new colour - Ruby. The sheet stamps came from a new cylinder D1 which did not carry the De La Rue logo (whereas the original £1 Mauve D1 cylinder printings did). Additionally, these stamps did not have the iriodin ink overprint. Also, the 2nd and 1st NVI's (not PIP versions) were reissued in counter sheets.

June 5th, also saw the reintroduction of the original Machin NVI design (using the small value tablet) on the standard (or small) sized definitives. Clearly, the small PiP design jarred when set against the original design and also had been causing customers confusion - as many were interpreting the large size of value tablet to indicated the 'LARGE' NVI letter rate. These are all printed by Walsall. Presumably, coils stamps will be reissue at a later date.
